The aim of Cristel’s Language Club is to instil a love of language learning in young children, and this is accomplished with a unique program that teaches French to children in the way they learn best; by making language learning a fun and memorable experience!
Our Approach to Learning:
First Hour: Language Discovery
The first hour is dedicated to building core language skills—listening, speaking, vocabulary, and comprehension—through a variety of interactive, age-appropriate activities. These include:
🎶 Songs and Rhymes – Repetition through music helps reinforce vocabulary and sentence patterns in a playful, memorable way.
📖 Storytime with Visual Aids – Picture books, puppets, and props bring stories to life, encouraging comprehension, imagination, and early literacy.
🎭 Role-Play and Dialogues – Guided scenarios allow children to practice speaking in everyday situations, building confidence and fluency.
🧩 Language Games – Engaging games make learning active and dynamic, encouraging children to use their new words in context.
Second Hour: Full French Immersion through Creative Exploration
The second hour of the session is entirely conducted in French and focuses on hands-on activities that naturally immerse children in the language. This may include:
🧁 Baking simple recipes – Following instructions in French helps reinforce verbs, measurements, and sequencing.
🎨 Arts and Crafts Projects – Children learn vocabulary related to colors, shapes, textures, and actions while expressing their creativity.
By integrating language learning into fun, real-life contexts, children absorb French in an organic way—just as they would a first language. Our supportive, play-based environment encourages them to listen, respond, and communicate with growing confidence.
Studies show that learning a second language boosts problem-solving, critical thinking, listening skills, memory and concentration as well as enhancing creativity and mental flexibility. Also children who are exposed early to other languages display more positive attitudes to the cultures associated with those languages.
